Introduction
Welcome to the Official Lansing Swim Organization Web-site! Lansing Swim Organization is a competitive swim club for the novice and experienced swimmer. The team operates in two seasons. The summer season starts in April and runs through July, while the winter season runs from September through February. Our swimmers range in age from 5-18 with practice sessions for different skill levels. The coaches, parents, and staff of LSO strive to blend technique, discipline, and commitment with fun, friendship, and pride to foster an atmosphere of teamwork and team spirit. GO TEAM LSO!!!
A Brief History
The Lansing Swim Organization was established in the spring of 1969 by a group of energetic Lansing residents. From LSO’s inception, the parents wanted to provide a competitive swim program for all interested children. Shortly, this program started to produce swimmers dedicated to improving their own best times. Those who accepted the challenge began to improve their strokes and times.
LSO was invited to join the Northwest Indiana Swim Conference and the Des Plaines Valley Swim Conference. After due deliberation, the board voted to join Northwest Indiana. Two championship meets are held each year by the conference. Dual meets are arranged within the conference between clubs. The team also attends sanctioned meets hosted by clubs in the area and adjoining states.
In 1971 LSO sponsored their first meet at Lan-Oak pool, which would become an annual event. A constitution was drafted for the team in 1972 and in February 1974 the club became incorporated. The current by-laws were adopted in 1981.
With the year 2000, the board voted to change LSO’s charter from Illinois to Indiana. LSO has a rich history of introducing boys and girls to the sport of swimming and honing their techniques. This history continues today with our current group of swimmers, LSO’s alumni swimmers excelling at higher levels of the sport and new swimmers eager to learn and perform their best. LSO will continue to forge new history, the best is yet to come!
